Oh, so based on his merit as an athlete, he should stop doing the thing that makes him happy simply because he’s won every possible title. OIC.

I’m so sick and tired of these types of statements, about Plushy or any other athlete. And this particular one….Even when I have a guess what it’s probably trying to say, the second sentence is still just a non sequitur.

I can see why people would be worried about him competing, sure. He’s had serious injuries before, and yeah, watching him scares me (especially if he’s had surgery prior to an event).

But ultimately, it’s his decision, and he’s said that competing in figure skating is what he enjoys. Who am I to argue with that? Plus I like him as both a person and a skater, it’s fun to watch him skate, so I’ll be cheering for him as long as he does compete.

I honestly am tired of statements like this too, whether it’s about Phelps, Lysacek, or anyone else. But Evgeni I am especially defensive over. D:

I know what you mean about being worried about him with all his surgeries. Just this past European Championships, for instance….Oh god. But later, I was actually reading some commentary by the Kerrs about Plushenko, and I think it was John who said he could understand it, because he thought that if Evgeni didn’t at least attempt to make it to Sochi, he would regret it all his life. And I suspect it’s true. So, what can I say?

Seriously, Plushy has gotten LOTS of (undeserved) flak from almost every corner of the internet it’s ridiculous. Everytime someone on some forum accusing him arrogant jumping machine with no choreo, who should step back for the new up-and-coming, I’m only feels more protective towards him and stanning him more like there’s no tomorrow. People should chill and stop treating him like he’s some evil Russian villain. Really.

And I should stop lurking on GS or FSU. Too much heartache.
